Garbage Separation

Short Stays

As a rule, you can simply leave your garbage inside the room. If it piles up and becomes a problem during your stay, you are welcome to take it out to the trash station on the ground floor.

About garbage bags: Garbage from a short stay is disposed of in business-use garbage bags. Anything you leave in the room is handled by us (the owner / cleaning staff), so you do not need to prepare any bags yourself. If you do take garbage out to the trash station during your stay, please use the dedicated bags we have put under the stove in the kitchen.

Short Stays
⚠️ If you do take garbage out to the trash station, you must always let the host know. Two things: the type of trash and the number of bags.

Long Stays

For long stays, please sort your garbage like an ordinary household and take it to the collection point on the correct days. The main collection days for this area (Shiroishi Ward, Area 1) are: [Burnable] every Tue & Fri. [Container & packaging plastics] every Mon. [Bottles, cans & PET bottles] every Thu. Please put these out on the morning of collection day. "Non-burnable garbage," "miscellaneous paper," and "branches/leaves/grass" are collected only once or twice a month and the exact dates change each month, so please check the Sapporo City collection calendar (no collection over New Year, Jan 1–3).

About garbage bags: For burnable garbage, please use the yellow Sapporo City designated bags. For everything else, please put it out in clear (transparent) bags. The Sapporo City designated bags are provided under the stove in the kitchen.

For long stays, you take the garbage out yourself as part of everyday life, so you do not need to notify the host each time.

  1. Never put these in the trash
Do not include batteries, spray cans, lighters, PC monitors, smartphones, charging cables or other items that cannot be thrown away as household waste. They can cause fires and other accidents.
  2. Where the trash station is
The trash station is on the ground floor of the building, inside the fenced enclosure at the front right (wire-mesh double doors). Open the doors and place bags in the back right corner — not at the front or on the left.
  3. Short Stays: Notify the host after you put the trash out
Please tell us two things: the type of trash and the number of bags. Example: “I took out 1 bag of burnable trash and 1 bag of non-burnable trash.”

For how to sort your garbage, please see the illustrations below and the Sapporo City official garbage sorting guide (multilingual). If anything is unclear, please ask us in chat.

The illustrations below are for reference only. Some parts of them — the layout and the non-Japanese labels — are hard to follow, so please treat the text above as the correct guidance on bags and sorting.

FAQ

Q1. Check-in & Check-out

Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM for both short and long stays. If there is no booking right before or after yours, we may be able to adjust your check-in/check-out time. If you'd like that, please ask us in chat as early as possible.

Q2. Early Check-in & Late Check-out

For early check-in or late check-out, if you let us know early we will do our best to accommodate you within what is possible. Please tell us the times you would like in chat as early as you can. Depending on the bookings right before or after yours, we may not always be able to meet your request. Note: as this is a self-check-in property, we cannot store or receive your luggage before check-in (you may ship luggage ahead, but please collect it yourself after check-in).

Q3. Amenities & Equipment

We provide the following. [Kitchen] cookware/utensils, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, rice cooker. [Bath/Wash] hair dryer, toothbrush, comb, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, bath towel and hand towel for each guest (note: bathrobes are not provided). [Laundry] washing machine, laundry detergent, clothes-drying pole (note: there is no indoor clothes dryer — for full drying we recommend the nearby coin laundry). [Cleaning] vacuum cleaner. [Baby items] baby bed, baby chair, baby bath. [Other] humidifier, TV.

→ How to use the washing machine

Q4. Towels & Linens

We do not provide a regular towel/linen exchange service. Please feel free to use and change the towels and sheets in the room yourself as needed during your stay. One set of towels (1 bath towel and 1 face towel) is provided per guest. Additional towels are available for a fee (bath towel ¥400 / hand towel ¥200 each). Please also see the notice at the towel shelf.

Q5. Cleaning for Long Stays

For long stays, we would like to come and clean the room periodically during your stay (see "Periodic cleaning during your stay" on this page for details). Separately from that, if you would like one thorough cleaning partway through your stay, we can arrange a house-cleaning service for ¥12,000 — just ask us in chat (this is an optional service).

Q6. Garbage Disposal

Sapporo City official garbage sorting guide (multilingual)

Short Stays

For short stays, you do not need to take any garbage out to the collection point. As a rule, please sort it inside the room and leave it there (burnable / recyclables & non-burnable); we (the owner / cleaning staff) will dispose of it properly using business-use bags. However, if the garbage piles up and becomes a problem during your stay, you are welcome to take it out to the trash station on the ground floor. In that case you must always notify the host afterwards (the type of trash and the number of bags). For sorting guidance, please see the "How to Sort Garbage" PDF we provide separately. Please drain food waste of excess water where possible.

Long Stays

How to sort your garbage and the collection days are shown in the "Garbage Separation" section of this page.

Q7. Check-out Procedure

Please check out by 10:00 AM following these steps. ① Check for any belongings you may have left (if you forget something, we keep it for one week only and cannot be responsible for loss). ② Turn off all appliances (especially heating/cooling — to prevent fire). ③ Close the windows (for security). ④ Lock the front door. ⑤ For what to do with your garbage, please see the “Garbage Separation” section of this page. ⑥ Scan the same QR code you used at check-in with your smartphone, choose "Check-out", enter your check-in number and press the confirm button.

Short Stays
About ⑤: You can simply leave the garbage inside the room (there is no need to take it out). If you did take garbage out to the trash station during your stay, you must always notify the host.

⑦ Where to return the key is shown in the guests-only section.

Q8. Occupancy & Short vs. Long Stay Rules

It’s the same unit, but some rules differ between "short stay" and "long stay." Maximum occupancy is 6 for short stays. Long stays also allow up to 6 by the rules, but as the room is compact we recommend up to about 4 guests. Short stays are 2–29 nights and long stays are 30 nights or more. For long stays (30 nights or more), Japanese tax law requires a "temporary-use lease agreement," signed online via DocuSign (5–10 min; no change to your booking, payment, or stay). Garbage handling (short = business waste / long = household waste) and cleaning (long stays: optional ¥12,000 house cleaning) also differ. Check-out time is 10:00 AM for both.

Q9. Neighborhood Information

Information about nearby supermarkets, convenience stores, coin laundries and pharmacies is summarized in the "Neighborhood" section of this page (with maps). Please refer to that section.
